Piscitani

Created for curious minds.

Michelle Piscitani’s technique of finger-painting, dripping, and spraying acrylics helps her achieve a natural textured finish. Reminiscent of patterns found in nature, her work can seem new and familiar at the same time. All pieces contain large amounts of water and dry lying flat like a desert floor. The intersection of intention and chaos is what Michelle finds most exciting while creating.

Vibrant, light-reflective art.

It’s an in-person experience. Michelle uses large amounts of metallics and metals, which are, can we say, moody? Her mediums include acrylic, molding paste, metal leaf, raw stone, and natural mica. Depending on the time of day or lighting, each piece can take on a different tone and feeling.

Rules

Michelle enjoys experimenting with different techniques and finishes that add character to her work. In the fine art world, using plain black is frowned upon. They suggest adding white and color to black, but Michelle disagrees. She finds any “rule” to art contradictory and enjoys beginning or finishing most pieces with plain black. Her painting method is stacking layers of texture similar to how graphic designers layer their work. This method allows her to create her work with an improvisational approach.
